Rome Craft Beer Tour: at the discovery of the homemade beer

We usually tend to erroneously think that only countries like Germany and Ireland are among the main producers of home-made beer. At Unconventional Rome Tours, we are ready to break down this conviction with our Rome Craft Beer Tour, a unique itinerary designed to offer you the possibility to taste a completely different Rome, tasty and intense – at the discovery of the home-made beer of the city.

The itinerary, both for private and small groups, covers the areas of Trastevere and Campo De’ Fiori – usually considered as the beating heart of the Roman social life. Two unmissable places for the lovers of the most beloved drink ever, where our expert guides are ready to lead you through a unique and absolutely stimulating taste itinerary among handcrafted beer and local specialties.

Craft Beer Production: Trastevere and Campo de’ Fiori

Unconventional Rome Tours, in cooperation with expert guides and professional beer sommeliers, will lead you at the discovery of an “unconventional” Rome, going beyond the history that made the Capital famous across the centuries. The Rome Craft Beer Tour in fact, offers you the chance of visiting the most famous breweries, the restaurants and pubs of Trastevere in a pleasant journey characterized by taste. Our licensed guide will present the typologies of the tastiest, most beloved and appreciated beers ever: it doesn’t matter if it is blonde, amber, dark or India Pale Ale, each one of them will be perfectly able to stimulate even the most demanding palate and papilla!

The location is undoubtedly among the most evocative and if Trastevere is able to enchant thanks to its typical alleys, true beer lovers can’t help to appreciate the most suggestive places to taste the first two special beers and appreciate its characteristics, always surrounded by an authentic and familiar atmosphere.

The Rome Craft Beer Tour continues than in Campo de’ Fiori, where we at Unconventional Rome Tours have chosen as the perfect location the well-known Open Baladin, a place that is said to be the temple of handcrafted beer. Established in 2009, it reconsiders the format that was already experimented some months before in Cinzano from the Baladin family, who has been engaged in the handcrafted beer production since 1986 and originating from Piozzo, in the Cuneo district. The term “open” perfectly expresses the concept that was expressed by the Baladins: in fact, it aims to be a free-movement place for people, beers, ideas and creativity masterfully mixed together.

The site currently offers more than one hundred types of bottled beer produced in different and famous Italian artisanal breweries. Today, it is particularly appreciated by beer lovers, not only for the variety and quality it fosters but first and foremost also for the directors’ hospitality.

Inside the locale, you will have the chance of tasting once more two special beers, together with super tasty homemade fries – the traditional fatate – chips of potatoes cooked at the moment and aromatized with peculiar flavors going from garlic and pecorino licorice, to sweet paprika – just to mention few examples. A pleasant relaxing moment where the tradition perfectly matches with the unique taste of beer malt of hops.

A counter characterized by a wide wall decorated by hundreds of beer bottles, will welcome you: the red color of the walls – in contrast with the ivory of tables – creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. Together with the panels decorated in Bailone style, these elements give to the locale a typically Baladinian aspect – warm and friendly.

No one can deny it, the Rome Craft Beer Tour offered by Unconventional Rome Tours represents the perfect chance to appreciate the best artisanal beers. While learning to value those peculiar characteristics that have contributed to make them unique throughout the years.
